Network Communications to Expand Fiber-Optic Network in Kilgore

July 11, 2016

Network Communications has committed to an agreement with Kilgore Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) to expand its fiber-optic network on the northwest side of Kilgore, Texas. The new, five-mile route is slated to run along Texas State Highway 135, between Peavine Road and the traffic circle.

The agreement, approved by KEDC’s board of directors, was put together following the results of a survey indicating that the target area is underserved and that faster Internet service would benefit the area’s employers and businesses, as well as draw new business.

“Today’s fast-paced business world is heavily content and data-driven with a growing need for faster access to the Internet,” said Network Communications' President. As a leading tele-communications provider, our primary focus is to provide cost-effective, secure and reliable solutions and this new expansion to our already extensive fiber-optic network will help those businesses along Texas 135 to be more successful.”

The $250,000 agreement with Network Communications calls for KEDC to pay $140,000 of the expansion costs, which can be fully reimbursed if enough businesses contract to use the service.

In 2011, KEDC and Network Communications successfully partnered to bring fiber optic Internet service to Kilgore’s two business parks.
