Network Communications to Build Advanced Fiber Optic Network for City of Kilgore
12/14/2010(Longview) – Network Communications, a Longview-based provider of telephone, high-speed Internet and office automation services is set to commence work on an extensive fiber optic network for Kilgore that will bring high-speed Internet and phone services to the city’s businesses.
The Kilgore City Council today unanimously approved the major project after hearing from Network Communications President Tony Cason and Bobby Beane, board president of the Kilgore Economic Development Corporation.
Network Communications is set to begin Phase I construction of the Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) in January 2011, with completion of services to North Kilgore Industrial Park and Synergy Business Park later in the summer. Phases II and III are designed to build the remainder of the city backbone and to create a redundant ring for critical city and academic facilities and will be completed in 2012.
Internet speeds available on the fiber network will far surpass those available on standard copper networks, yet are priced competitively. “It’s a win-win situation, and I think it will be a tremendous asset for our community,” Mr. Beane said.
Network Communications successfully deployed a similar GPON network serving businesses in Marshall, Texas, in 2010.
